Technology is at the core of product development. The development of new products requires new technology. For an engineering company, the ability to innovatively originate new technology more rapidly than competitors is a source of competitive advantage.
Innovation within any single context is not a single activity. Fan technology may be regarded as a single context however a spectrum of technology is required to improving product performance, minimising cost and risk. At one extreme, new computational methods can elucidate the physical flow mechanisms at play within the fan blades, and in so doing provide new insight into those aspects of blade design that are limiting aerodynamic and acoustic performance. At the other extreme, web based product design applications go beyond globalisation, they render global geographic location irrelevant and in so doing leverage capability developed in one region globally.
Flakt Woods believes in the value of new technology, and has a systematic process for its development and industrialisation. The development of new technology is an investment in a future that will become progressively more challenging as concern over global warming puts progressively greater pressure of manufactures to produce more efficient products.
