Fläkt Woods receives prestigious Platinum LEED Green Building order in Sweden

Making the most of the Permanent Magnet (PM) motor technology, Fläkt Woods is supplying one of their greenest ever air handling equipment for a project that is set to become one of the first LEED Platinum ranked projects in Stockholm for commercial buildings and one of the most environmentally compatible projects developed by Skanska to date, their new headquarters building ‘Entré Lindhagen’ in Stockholm. The new office block will surpass all the ecological demands for green and environmental friendly buildings. All aspects have been considered in terms of indoor climate, natural materials and energy efficiency. The energy consumption in the building will be approx 50% lower versus that of a traditional office building.

Fläkt Woods’ highly adaptable air handling units offer a range of individual features, including energy efficient components and a flexible design. By combining everything into one system, the Company has achieved the best energy solutions possible. The fact that ‘Entré Lindhagen’ is using Fläkt Woods’ products, featuring their new PM-motors is a credible endorsement of their environmental features. These include reducing the SFPv value in the air handling units by up to 6% compared to the same fans with IE2 motors.

For ‘Entré Lindhagen’, environmental considerations were paramount throughout its design, in terms of indoor climate, materials and energy efficiency. The property will be one of the first commercial buildings in Stockholm to be environmentally classified at the highest level, Platinum, according to the international certification system LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and also according to the Swedish Building-Living Dialogue.

”Increasing energy prices makes energy efficiency more and more important. The energy efficiency is an important factor in order to gain as low operating costs and life cycle costs as possible. Being environmentally aware usually has its tolls. To put it plainly; it’s mostly the more expensive alternative. But not anymore, and that’s the beauty of our e3 concept which focuses on energy efficiency, expertise and environmental friendly solutions. We offer products and complete systems that bring excellent indoor air quality and low life cycle costs. As a result, our customers will save both money and the environment”, says Robert Petersson, Managing Director at Fläkt Woods AB in Sweden.

Particular emphasis has been placed on reducing Entré Lindhagen’s impact on the climate through carbon emissions, including the use of a new energy-efficient, patent-pending solution to cool the building. Significant focus will also be placed on creating a healthy indoor environment and on excellent noise environment.

A few more examples of green solutions in the Garden are:
• Deep Green Cooling, an energy efficient solution for cooling the house
• Lighting which is similar to daylight with energy efficient governance.
• Elevators that preserves and restores energy during braking and recycles it.
• Energy-efficient windows that let in maximum light without letting in cooling / heating.
• Water absorbent sedum roofs to take care of storm water.

The new ‘Entré Lindhagen’ will be a natural continuation of the development of the Lindhagen Street, which will become Stockholm’s head office boulevard. Skanska has made substantial investments into the project - the largest amount that the company has made to date to develop an office project - and more will be invested into the project over the next few years. The project entails the development of over 55,000 square meters of office space and over 170 new residences will be developed.
